Volleyball Recap: Polk County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Reeve Carroll and Aslyn Scruggs

Polk County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain Island Charter Raptors.

Aslyn Scruggs and Reeve Carroll certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Scruggs had ten digs and two aces, while Carroll had 13 digs and ten kills. Carroll is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Kelly Lazaroski, who had ten digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last nine matches. Tarriah Washington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mountain Island Charter, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-9.

Polk County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Mountain Heritage on the 30th. As for Mountain Island Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Community School of Davidson on the 27th.
