Basketball Recap: Mendon Unity Takes a Loss

If Mendon Unity was feeling good fresh off their 46-22 takedown of Rushville-Industry on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell 44-35 to the Liberty Eagles on Saturday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Weslee John, who shot 67% from beyond the arc to rack up 19 points and six rebounds. Leila Parkhill was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mendon Unity now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Liberty, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Mendon Unity wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-40 loss against West Prairie on the 25th. As for Liberty, they have also already played their next game, a 60-33 win against Rushville-Industry on the 24th.
