Softball Recap: Saugerties Comes Up Short

Saugerties has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.58 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell just short of the Kingston Tigers by a score of 10-9. That makes it the first time this season the Sawyers have let down their home crowd.

Emma Stafford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Stefanie Cogswell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Saugerties and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Kingston, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saugerties will take on Spackenkill at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Kingston, they will challenge Monroe-Woodbury at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
