Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. Menlo School Knights
Sacred Heart Prep is 9-1 against Menlo School since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Sacred Heart Prep Gators will be playing at home against the Menlo School Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Sacred Heart Prep came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Lincoln 58-39. Given Sacred Heart Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Lincoln is ranked 557th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sacred Heart Prep had a senior duo take command as JP Kerrigan scored 20 points along with three steals and TJ O'Brien scored 18 points. Kerrigan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Wagner, who scored eight points along with eight assists.
Menlo School posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat The Nueva School 61-18 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Menlo School.
Sacred Heart Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Menlo School, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Sacred Heart Prep beat Menlo School 60-49 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Sacred Heart Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Menlo School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
