Baseball Recap: Corvian Community Victorious

Corvian Community gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Mountain Island Charter Raptors. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Raptors on Wednesday, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Dylan Behlke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brennan Frey, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Connor Frey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Corvian Community's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Mountain Island Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Corvian Community will face off against Piedmont Community Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bradford Prep at 5:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
