Softball Recap: Carroll's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Carroll can now relate to. They fell 11-7 to the Nixon Mustangs on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this match were averaging 2.25 runs allowed.

Mariah Pena made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaeleigh Mendez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Carroll's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-4. As for Nixon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carroll beat Nixon by a score of 13-1 on Saturday.
