Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Fontana's Winning Streak

If Fontana was riding high fresh off their 22-11 takedown of Xavier Prep last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fontana Steelers fell 8-4 to the San Jacinto Tigers on Saturday. The Steelers were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in March of 2018.

Nevaeh Castro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Lira, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Fontana moved to 3-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for San Jacinto, their record is now 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fontana will challenge Miller at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Fontana will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for San Jacinto, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
