Preview: Clovis Wildcats vs. Carlsbad Cavemen
Clovis is 1-9 against Carlsbad since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clovis Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Carlsbad Cavemen at 7:00 p.m. Clovis is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Clovis beat Roswell 55-51. The victory was just what Clovis needed coming off of a 72-42 loss in their prior contest.
Zarai Lewis was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailyn Jefferson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Carlsbad faced Hobbs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Carlsbad was beaten by Hobbs 58-22 on Friday. Carlsbad has not had much luck with Hobbs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Clovis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Carlsbad, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10.
Clovis couldn't quite finish off Carlsbad in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 37-35. Can Clovis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
