Basketball Recap: Burke County Takes a Loss

If Burke County was riding high fresh off their 76-26 takedown of Josey last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Burke County Bears and the Laney Wildcats didn't end well, with the Burke County Bears falling 63-49. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 70-58 loss last Friday.

Despite the loss, Burke County still got an impressive performance from Kordell Williams, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Quayvian Lovette, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Burke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Burke County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season. The win was the third in a row for Laney, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.

Burke County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-69 victory against Hart County on the 19th. As for Laney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-38 loss against Butler on the 14th.
