Recap: Miller Buccaneers vs. Victoria West Warriors
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Miller Buccaneers walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over the Warriors on Friday. Miller's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Miller's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trevor Long, who threw for 310 yards and six touchdowns. Corey Holmes was another key contributor, picking up 155 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Victoria West had strong showings from Camden Repper, who threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and Kamauri Montgomery, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Montgomery hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Zorian Barfield, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Miller pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Victoria West, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Miller will head out on the road to face off against Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Veterans Memorial will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Victoria West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
