Recap: Jeff Davis Yellowjackets vs. Treutlen Vikings
The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets lost against the Treutlen Vikings back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Jeff Davis took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Treutlen. While losing is never fun, Jeff Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Treutlen is ranked 191st).
When it comes to explaining why Jeff Davis lost, one person who can't be blamed is L'earl Conaway. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. A.J. Hunt was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Jeff Davis' loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-11. As for Treutlen, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
Jeff Davis will play host again and welcome Sumter County, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sumter County has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-3 during that stretch of close contests. As for Treutlen, they will head out on the road to challenge Hawkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hawkinsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
