It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fauquier ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the James Wood Colonels, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Colonels back in April, they had to take a 5-1 loss.

The victory made it two in a row for Fauquier and bumps their season record up to 9-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for James Wood, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Fauquier is set to square off against their familiar foe Kettle Run at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.9, the Cougars 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, James Wood will challenge rival Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
