Volleyball Recap: Gabi Guillen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead School of the Woods over Banff

School of the Woods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Banff Bears, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-8.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabi Guillen, who had nine digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Olivia Nettles, who had 15 digs.

Banff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emaan Rizvi, who had ten kills, five digs, five aces, and two blocks. That's the most aces Rizvi has posted over her last six contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Amina Unwala, who had eight kills, six aces, and one block.

School of the Woods' loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Banff, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. School of the Woods will square off against rival Humble Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Banff is set to face off against their familiar foe The Ehrhart School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
