Basketball Recap: Oak Park-River Forest Triumphs

Oak Park-River Forest won the last time they faced Thornwood and things went their way on Saturday too. The Oak Park-River Forest Huskies came out on top against the Thornwood Thunderbirds by a score of 64-55.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Jones, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Jones' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Young, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points.

Oak Park-River Forest's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Thornwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Oak Park-River Forest and Thornwood could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Oak Park-River Forest will take on New Trier at 6:30 p.m. on Monday down 148 places (178 vs. 30). Similarly, Thornwood (ranked 295th) will meet Rich Township (ranked 18th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
