Baseball Game Preview: Northern Lehigh Bulldogs vs. Moravian Academy Lions

Northern Lehigh has gone a perfect 10-0 against Moravian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:15 p.m. Northern Lehigh will be strutting in after a win while Moravian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Northern Lehigh is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Notre Dame with a sharp 16-1 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Connor Simms made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Northern Lehigh let Braedon Dougherty and Coy Daubert run wild. Dougherty scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Daubert scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Parker Schaffer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Northern Lehigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Moravian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 16-1 to Lehighton.

Northern Lehigh's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Moravian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Northern Lehigh beat Moravian Academy 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
