Baseball Recap: West Jessamine Drops Highest Score of Season Against Burgin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Jessamine). They never let the Burgin Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Colts with their most commanding win of the season.

Landon Davis looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). West Jessamine is 2-1 when Davis allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-10-1 otherwise.

At the plate, West Jessamine got a massive performance out of Hayden Peters, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Peters has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Buehner, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

West Jessamine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Jessamine is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-11-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Burgin, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

West Jessamine will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
