Softball Game Preview: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams

The Andrew Jackson Volunteers will venture away from home to take on the Chesterfield Golden Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Andrew Jackson will be strutting in after a victory while Chesterfield will be coming in after a defeat.

While Andrew Jackson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Westwood with a sharp 14-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Volunteers have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Chesterfield didn't have quite enough to beat Hartsville on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Golden Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Andrew Jackson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Chesterfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

Andrew Jackson suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Chesterfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Volunteers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
