Softball Recap: Parish Episcopal Triumphs

Parish Episcopal's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Nolan Catholic Vikings 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Olivia Waterhouse made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Cohen, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jade Hall-Wright was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Parish Episcopal's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Nolan Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Parish Episcopal is set to square off against their familiar foe Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Nolan Catholic will challenge rival Liberty Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
