South Suburban - Blue recap Oct. 23, 2012
Oak Forest extended the longest winning streak in South Suburban - Blue this week by beating Thornton Fractional South, 28-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Bremen moved up to 201 from 227 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Braves were able to make move up by defeating Oak Lawn 42-17.
Bremen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Banovich threw for 238 and one touchdown and Ronald Sims had 61 yards receiving. On the ground Devonta Wilson chipped in 141 yards. D'arious Tolbert helped Bremen's passing attack out by catching two balls for 53 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Banovich and Wilson Dan Stell's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Banovich leads the league in passing with 1251 yards, while Wilson has rushed for 1157 yards this season. Hillcrest's London Covington leads the league in receiving yards with 712 on 46 catches.
Lemont led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Thornton Fractional North.
