Soccer Game Preview: Greenwood vs. Mauldin

The Greenwood Eagles will face off against the Mauldin Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Greenwood took a eight-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Hillcrest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Greenwood never let Hillcrest get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Mauldin narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past T.L. Hanna 2-1. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Thony Usuga and Kyle Monte scored both of Mauldin's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Mauldin now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 5-2-1.

Greenwood came up short against Mauldin when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Greenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
