Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Liberty

Liberty won the last time they faced Colfax and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lancers blew past the Bulldogs 13-3. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Jordyn Jeske made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Hofmann, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Haylee Mitzimberg, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Liberty's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Colfax, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will challenge Freeman at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Scotties will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colfax, they will head out on the road to square off against Asotin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
