Softball Game Preview: Hodgdon Hawks vs. Katahdin Cougars

The Hodgdon Hawks will head out to challenge the Katahdin Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hodgdon knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Katahdin likes a good challenge.

Hodgdon took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Wisdom, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pioneers 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since May 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, Katahdin put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Fort Kent. The five-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Hodgdon's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Katahdin, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Hodgdon might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Katahdin in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
