Softball Game Preview: St. James Wildcats vs. Hammond Tornadoes

The St. James Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Hammond Tornadoes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

St. James came up short against Holden on Thursday, falling 12-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. James saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shiya Steib, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Hammond's offense. They lost 20-0 to Mandeville on Monday.

St. James' defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.

Everything went St. James' way against Hammond when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as St. James made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
