Baseball Recap: Rye Neck Panthers vs. Pelham Memorial Pelicans
After flying high against Sleepy Hollow on Thursday, Rye Neck came back down to earth. The Panthers took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pelham Memorial Pelicans on Monday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pelicans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Rye Neck saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Gellman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Chris Cervantes was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Rye Neck's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Pelham Memorial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
While Rye Neck had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
