The Hesperia Christian Patriots will challenge the Desert Christian Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Hesperia Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Hesperia Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Victor Valley. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jackrabbits, sneaking past 5-4.
Gabe Sanchez and Nathaniel Renner were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sanchez pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Renner didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hesperia Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. At the plate, Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Renner scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Renner is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other pitching news, Jaden Solorzano looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Luke Beasley was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Hesperia Christian is undefeated when Beasley posts one or more home runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Desert Christian fell victim to Littlerock and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lobos. The game marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.
Hesperia Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.67 hits in those games compared to only 5.22 in the others. As for Desert Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-3-2 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hesperia Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Desert Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Hesperia Christian's way against Desert Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Hesperia Christian made off with a 16-9 win. Will Hesperia Christian repeat their success, or does Desert Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
