Sakura Barnes leads a balanced attack to beat Northwestern

On Thursday, Somerset Academy South Homestead earned a 57-45 victory over Northwestern.

Somerset Academy South Homestead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sakura Barnes out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Barnes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Justice Sheppard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Northwestern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Janyiah Mickens. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Mickens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophonie Felix, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Northwestern, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Somerset Academy South Homestead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwestern will look to defend their home court on Monday against Coral Reef at 7:30 p.m.
