Softball Game Preview: Rhinelander Hodags vs. Northland Pines Eagles

The Rhinelander Hodags will head out to take on the Northland Pines Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Rhinelander and 16 for Northland Pines dating back to last season.

Rhinelander fell victim to Antigo and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Red Robins.

Meanwhile, Northland Pines scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Crandon, falling 16-6.

Northland Pines saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Stenschke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Stenschke has hit this season. Matanna DePuydt was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Rhinelander's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Northland Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Rhinelander might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Northland Pines in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hodags avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
