Baseball Recap: Red Hook Comes Up Short

Beacon hit Red Hook with a five-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 8-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Caden Heeney made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Jackson Huber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Red Hook's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Beacon, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Looking ahead, Red Hook will square off against Pine Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Beacon, they will take on Minisink Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
