Baseball Recap: Belleville East's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Triad, Belleville East was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Collinsville Kahoks by a score of 10-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lancers considering their one-run performance the match before.

The team relied heavily on Jalen Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Belleville East: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 13-14 otherwise. Caden Cagas was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Belleville East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Belleville East's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 20-14. As for Collinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belleville East will take on Highland at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Collinsville, they will square off against Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
