Recap: Center Grove Trojans vs. Zionsville Eagles
The Center Grove Trojans came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-49 victory over Zionsville. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 33% better than the opposition, as Center Grove's was.
Center Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Ephraim, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Ephraim is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Byrd, who scored ten points along with three steals and two blocks.
Zionsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drew Snively, who scored 17 points. Snively is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last five games he's played. Luke Reasoner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Center Grove's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. As for Zionsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
Center Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Jeffersonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Center Grove is ranked 18th, while Jeffersonville is ranked 19th). As for Zionsville, they will head out on the road to take on Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Zionsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
