Softball Game Preview: Edison Tigers vs. Chavez Titans

The Edison Tigers will take on the Chavez Titans at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Chavez took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Edison, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Edison duked it out with Paso Robles on Friday. Edison was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Paso Robles.

Alexis Verduzco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 17 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lauren Jones and Joslyn Marby did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Marby scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Rubi Perez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Chavez unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 15-0 to Woodlake on Friday.

Edison took their victory against Chavez in their previous matchup back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 15-1. Does Edison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chavez turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
