Softball Recap: Middleton Takes Down Ranked Vallivue

Middleton faced Vallivue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Falcons 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Falcons since March 12, 2020.

The team relied heavily on Kenadi Whitlow, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Sadie Stafford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Middleton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Vallivue, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-5.

Looking ahead, Middleton will head out to face off against Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Vallivue, they will welcome Bishop Kelly at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
