Football Recap: Gillespie Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gillespie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 56-6 defeat at the hands of the Vandalia Vandals. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while the Vandals are ranked 226th).

Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Vandalia, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Coming up, Gillespie will take on Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vandalia, they are taking a road trip to take on Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vandals will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
