Volleyball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Elwood Panthers

Eastern is 9-1 against Elwood since October of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Eastern will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Eastern made easy work of Clinton Prairie and carried off a 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Comets have posted against the Gophers since October 1, 2019.

Eastern's got stronger as the match went on, holding Clinton Prairie to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-12.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Hendricks, who had 19 digs. That's the most digs Hendricks has posted over her last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Appleton, who had 17 digs.

Meanwhile, Elwood came up short against Tipton on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-20, 19-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Elwood has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Eastern took their victory against Elwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
