Recap: Atlas Prep vs. Community Christian Warriors
After flying high against Uplift Infinity Prep last Thursday, Atlas Prep came back down to earth. Atlas Prep lost to Community Christian on the road by a decisive 67-51 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Atlas Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1302nd, while Community Christian is ranked 524th).
Community Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Price Horton, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. The matchup was Horton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Blackburn, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Atlas Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Community Christian, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Atlas Prep will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Uplift Elevate Prep at 11:00 a.m. on January 5th. Uplift Elevate Prep is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Community Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against UME Preparatory Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully UME Preparatory Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
