Softball Recap: Shady Spring Falls to Independence in First Game of Season

Shady Spring unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 8-4 to the Independence Patriots on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Shady Spring saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Joyce, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win keeps Independence at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shady Spring will face off against Midland Trail on Saturday. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against James Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
