League recap: Sub-par week lands Wiscasset outside of Maine's top 25

C West league recap: 5/14/12

With a rough week, Wiscasset dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Wiscasset fell from No. 18 to No. 28 after going 3-1 over the past week. The Redskins are ranked No. 4064 in the nation, and have an overal record of 6-3.

Hall-Dale made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from twesecond to sixth place in the league thanks to a 3-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to elefirst place after going 0-2 in the past week. First-place Dirigo (9-0, 7-0) went 3-0 over the past week.

Madison's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 23 hits and 31 walks to lead the league in both categories. The Bulldogs' pitchers have been charged with only 60 hits and have struck out 81 batters. Stephen Cusson is tops on the staff with 37 Ks.

Madison's Rhett Mckenney led the league in strikeouts this week with 19. With 19 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.

Travis Emerson led the league with eight hits this week for the Bulldogs. He is first in the league with 16 hits this year, and has a .500 batting average.
