Baseball Recap: Nelson County Comes Up Short

Nelson County's last matchup with Altavista could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Governors lost 7-1 to the Colonels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colonels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in April.

Nelson County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lekota Shaver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Nelson County now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Altavista, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5.

Nelson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Altavista, they will square off against Chatham at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
