Basketball Game Preview: Spirit Lake Indians vs. Spencer Tigers

Spirit Lake and Spencer are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Spirit Lake Indians will host the Spencer Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Spirit Lake is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Pocahontas to the tune of 85-39 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but Spirit Lake sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Spencer's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Mason City 67-61.

Spirit Lake's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for Spencer, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Spirit Lake beat Spencer 66-59 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Spirit Lake repeat their success, or does Spencer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
