Basketball Game Preview: Sparkman Senators vs. Huntsville Panthers

Sparkman hasn't had much luck against Huntsville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sparkman Senators will welcome the Huntsville Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sparkman will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Grissom, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Sparkman skirted past Grissom 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Senators have posted against the Tigers since January 11, 2022.

Meanwhile, Huntsville entered their tilt with Grissom on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Tigers are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huntsville's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. As for Sparkman, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-16.
