Volleyball Recap: Smith Center Beats Hoxie for Their Third Straight Victory

Smith Center waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hoxie Indians. This was payback for the Redmen, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Smith Center had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-13.

Smith Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lillie Heiland led the charge by getting 20 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Danni Archer, who had 15 assists and five aces.

Smith Center was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive matchups.

Smith Center's record is now 13-7. As for Hoxie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
