Baseball Game Preview: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Eastside Lions

The Vasquez Mustangs will challenge the Eastside Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Vasquez will be strutting in after a victory while Eastside will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Vasquez earned a 7-2 win over Canyon. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Brandon Vasquez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Jacobson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Levi Real was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Eastside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 7-1 to Silverado.

Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vasquez, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Vasquez was able to grind out a solid win over Eastside when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 7-3. Will Vasquez repeat their success, or does Eastside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
