Baseball Recap: Ponderosa Victorious

Ponderosa proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Loveland Red Wolves, sneaking past 8-6. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Wolves, too.

Nick Moe looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isai Santaella was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Ponderosa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aaron Crown, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Ponderosa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Loveland, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Ponderosa will welcome Vista Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Loveland, they will venture away from home to square off against Windsor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wizards have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
