Basketball Recap: West Geauga Takes a Loss

West Geauga won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They lost 56-34 to the Chardon Hilltoppers. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now lost three in a row.

Cameron Gerlica was nothing short of spectacular for Chardon: she went 6 of 10 on her way to 21 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Gerlica a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Grau, who posted 12 points and five steals.

West Geauga's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Chardon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Geauga will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Perry at 6:45 p.m. on January 9th. As for Chardon, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against South at 12:00 p.m. Chardon has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 167 points over their last three matches.
