The Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors will head out to take on the Horse Creek Academy Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrew Jackson Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Andrew Jackson Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Dorchester Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Walker Terry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaiden Kinard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Hayden McClung also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Andrew Jackson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Horse Creek Academy got themselves on the board against Calhoun County on Friday, but Calhoun County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Stallions have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryson Rish was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brice Abney, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Horse Creek Academy pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their record is now 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Andrew Jackson Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Horse Creek Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Andrew Jackson Academy's way against Horse Creek Academy when the teams last played on Monday, as Andrew Jackson Academy made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andrew Jackson Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
