Langston Hughes had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the East Paulding Raiders with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-28. The Panthers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Langston Hughes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darnell Kelly, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 60 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Qwantavius Wiggins, who rushed for 160 yards and two scores.

Despite the defeat, East Paulding saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bode Spence threw for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards and one TD.
Langston Hughes' victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for East Paulding, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Coming up, Langston Hughes will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lee County at 7:30 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Wiggins and Jordan Bush. East Paulding does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
