Football Recap: Union County Patriots vs. Austin-East Roadrunners
Union County lost against Austin-East back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Union County Patriots were dealt a 49-14 loss at the hands of the Austin-East Roadrunners. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Roadrunners recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austin-East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dimere Ligon, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing yards Ligon has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Gladney, who gained 150 total yards and two touchdowns.
Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Austin-East, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will challenge Alcoa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Alcoa is coming into the game with three straight victories at home, so Union County will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Austin-East, they will take on Scott at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Austin-East is facing Scott at the right time seeing as Scott is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
