Basketball Recap: Anthony Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Effingham County over Greenbrier

If Effingham County was riding high fresh off their 65-43 takedown of Savannah Country Day on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Effingham County Rebels and the Greenbrier Wolfpack didn't end well, with the Effingham County Rebels falling 54-38. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 142nd).

Effingham County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Davis, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyjah Doty, who scored six points and six boards.

Greenbrier had a senior duo take command as Nate Garstang had 18 points and Martez Ford put up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Mcdonald, who earned six points.

Effingham County's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Greenbrier, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Coming up, Effingham County will head out on the road to take on Statesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Effingham County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. Greenbrier does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
