Baseball Recap: South Point Takes a Loss

South Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Adams Green Devils.

Marcus Handshaw was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caesyn Pope, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for North Adams, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Looking ahead, South Point is taking a road trip to challenge Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pointers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for North Adams, they have already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Portsmouth West on the 2nd.
