Basketball Recap: Claire Payne Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

NorthWood won the last time they faced Fairfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The NorthWood Panthers came out on top against the Fairfield Falcons by a score of 35-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

NorthWood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire Payne, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Payne has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Branham, who posted 11 points and three steals.

NorthWood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 17-5 record this season. As for Fairfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NorthWood will host Penn at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Penn knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully NorthWood likes a good challenge. As for Fairfield, they will welcome West Noble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
